Life Happens

During the school half-term (27-31 May), visitors to the Life Science Centre will be able to explore the constellation of Virgo and get up close with minibeasts…

Minibeasts? It’s true! Zoolab are going to be at the Life Science Centre this May to give visitors the chance to get face to face with creatures such as tarantulas and scorpions. Imagine! And visitors will also be able to unleash their creative side and make and take home their own cardboard minibeast – just how many heads, legs and eyes will yours have… And between 4-6 May, special guest maker and artist Lindsey Stevenson will be hosting hands-on mask making workshops in the Making Studios. There’s also the chance to sit back and relax in the region’s largest planetarium and take a 360-degree breath-taking view of the night skies, including a close-up of the constellation Virgo. There will also be plenty of hands-on exhibits, live science demos, and, for younger visitors, a revamped Play Zone. Meanwhile, the new ‘Growing our Future’ exhibits in the Science Now! Hub showcase how local scientists and researchers are taking inspiration from nature.
