Caper takeover

Following the huge success of Sunderland’s first Let’s Caper event this spring, it returns once again in September for a mini-festival takeover of the City Hall. Get set for live music, comedy, stalls, food, drink, workshops and more.

These Caper events are an enormous cocktail of fun and find just the right blend of good stuff to make your evenings go with a swing. The next one is back in Sunderland on Friday 27 September and headlining the music side of things will be Northern funkateers Smoove and Turrell (pictured) who will be hitting us up with a DJ set with live vocals. Other live acts to look out for include the likes of Moonwax and Lucas Renney. The Caper is also renowned for their comedy line-ups and this time round they have local star Lee Kyle on hosting duties. He’ll be introducing Ben Crompton (the ever-popular stand-up who also starred in ‘Game of Thrones’) and rising stars such as Elizabeth Mitchell and Anja Atkinson. Andre Viana will be leading some dance classes (think: sizzling hot Latin rhythms), and there also be live art, flashmobs and crowd karaoke. There will also be a range of bars serving up quality drinks and cocktails, and food vendors such as Sumo Bento, The Big Bahn and Beanie Bun (vegan) will be making your mouth water. The Caper’s reputation is well deserved and their latest night is packing thrills wherever you look. GM
