The Crack Magazine

Sounds of tomorrow, today

Generator Live is celebrating the hottest acts in the north-east in early October with an incredible line-up at Boiler Shop in Newcastle.

And fronting up that incredible line-up is the frankly brilliant L Devine (pictured). This Whitley Bay lass released her debut album ‘Digital Heartifacts’ earlier this year and it’s among the finest indie-pop albums of recent times. Bubbling over with infectious hooks and oh-so-imaginative production, it’s little wonder that Charli xcx describes Devine as “the motherfucking future”. But this gig is toting real thrills wherever you look as also on the bill are Cortney Dixon (this Crack fave’s indie-bops are the bomb), Dan Swift (underground rap king on the up and up), Eyeconic (another rapper at the forefront of all that’s good about the scene in the region right now), Finn Forster (incredible singer/songwriter who can hold his own against the likes of Benson Boone), Look Terrified (absolutely amazing leftfield indie-pop and electronic grooves), Maius Mollis (atmospheric indie-folk with a melodic edge and reflective lyrical concerns), NE-O (grime artist extraordinaire packing real heat), Rivkala (neo-soul artist pushing the genre into new and interesting directions), Sarah Johnsone (alt rocking indie and seductive vocals), The Peevie Wonders (exuberant and raucous art-pop) and Alannah Lamb (DJ known for her eclectic sets taking in electronica, disco, hip-hop and more). One of the gigs of the autumn. DP
