Orville Peck always stands out for me among the host of country stars currently taking the world by storm (and not just because of his iconic masks). Stampede is a collection of duets that spans a variety of genres and includes an impressive roster of collaborators - from the sultry, disco-country ‘Midnight Ride’ featuring Kylie Minogue, to classic homoerotic crooner ‘Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other’ with Willie Nelson, to soulful ballad ‘Ever You’re Gone’, perfectly harmonised with Teddy Swims. Peck gives his guests plenty of room to shine, but no matter who he is performing with, his incredibly rich vocals just steal the show. LT
