beabadoobee’s latest release is a perfect study of the growth of an artist. The Filipino-born, London-raised artist has always clung to her 90s grunge influences, and they continue to peek through her new music, but ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ makes it clear that beabadoobee has created her own, unique corner of the indie genre. It’s simultaneously soft and powerful, it’s nostalgic yet unmistakably her and her sweet, gentle vocals are as at home with the acoustic tracks as they are with jangly guitars, driving baselines and heavy percussion. She’s always been an incredibly versatile artist, but ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ boasts her most thoughtful songwriting yet. LT
