Shop, swap and drop

If you go down to Ouseburn today, you’re in for a big surprise, because there’s a hidden gem that’ll keep you well dressed and can help you clear out your closet, all in one fell swoop. The People’s Exchange is nestled away in the Stepney Bank arches, and it’s your one stop shop (and swap and drop off) for all your fashion fancies.

This time of year is perfect for clearing out your wardrobe ready for a new season, and if you’ve suddenly found yourself laden with bin bags of clothes that you can’t be bothered to list on a resale site, you can make yourself an appointment with The People’s Exchange and take your unwanted wares along to be sold on your behalf. You take up to 20 items, and you’ll take home 35% of the total resale value of your items right then and there. Alternatively, you can bring those items to your appointment and opt to swap them instead: you’ll be given store credit worth 50% off your clothes’ resale value to use in The People’s Exchange. Finally, if your wardrobe is already looking a bit bare, or you just want to treat yourself, you can head along and simply shop the rails. With brands like Alexander McQueen, Adidas, Good American and, of course, plenty of vintage bits, you’ll be in for more than a big surprise. FR

Make an appointment at www.thepeoples.exchange or head into the shop at Unit 3, Arch 3, Stepney Bank, Newcastle.
