If you’re unfamiliar with Foster The People, you will at least know them for their breakout hit ‘Pumped Up Kicks’, but I highly recommend you get to know them beyond this. This fourth album (their first since 2017) indeed invokes a Paradise State of Mind, with its luxuriant soundscapes that sprawl across a rich variety of genres such as synthpop, disco and psychedelia. It’s a groovy, experimental listen with infectious melodies that are very easy to get lost in. In other words, this listening experience is exactly like its maximalist cover design suggests. LT
