This is the third solo album from this Swedish singer and multi-instrumentalist and it’s a real beguiling delight. Its eight tracks – apparently an ode to Mariam’s respect and devotion to air, breath and space – conjure up rhythmic enchantments featuring harps, strings, synths, piano and drums, and, yes, they really do have a sense of air, breath and space about them. These are soulful songs – maybe in a spiritual Nina Simone mould – but they also push envelopes in the manner of Kate Bush et al. DP
