The Crack Magazine

Unadulterated joy, live!

If Northern Soul Orchestrated isn’t the most joyous show you’ll see this year, then I’ll refund you the price of this magazine. It’s coming to Stockton Globe this November.

I caught Northern Soul Orchestrated when it played to a sell-out crowd at the Glasshouse during the summer months, and I was completely blown away. And, judging by the huge smiles slapped across the faces of everyone else I saw on the way out, I reckon everyone else loved it too. The whole caboodle was the brainchild of BBC Radio 6Music broadcaster Stuart Maconie (pictured). He wowed the proms last year by curating a special night of northern soul songs that were given suitable punchy arrangements by the BBC Concert Orchestra. The subsequent tour included a number of dates around the UK, all of which were so successful that further dates were added. Thankfully, one of those dates is another right here in the north-east. Once again the BBC Concert Orchestra will be doing their thing and a roster of highly talented singers will be knocking it out of the park as they hit audiences up with selected northern soul anthems. Brace yourself for rare thrills.

Northern Soul Orchestrated, Thursday 28 November, Stockton Globe, 7pm, from £41, stocktonglobe.co.uk
