The great outdoors

Ooh! A 500-year-old lane in Newcastle city centre has been transformed into an urban art gallery. Nice!

I’ve cut through Forth Lane near the Central Station on many an occasion, usually stumbling into, or out of, The Forth pub. But now I’ll have cause to pause down this historic lane, just so I can gawp at the artwork there. In partnership with Newcastle Arts Centre, Project North East and NE1, Creative Central NCL, the new urban gallery is showing the work of six artists around the loose theme of Pleasure Garden (including a piece by Tullulah Lines – pictured – who creates bright, bold, magical and surreal pieces inspired by the freedom and joy of nature and the outdoors). Other artists showing work include Rebecca Purnell, Laura Sheldon (aka SHELDO), Jed Buttress, Glenn Malpass and Chris Fleming. More of this sort of thing!
