This is Pixie’s eleventh album - an incredible feat in itself, with the band having a second of coming sorts when they reunited in 2020 after 22 years apart. It’s clear to see Pixies have been on quite a journey, though I feel that journey has hit the middle of the road. None of these new songs are bad - Black Francis remains a charismatic frontman, new bassist Emma Richardson is a strong addition, and lead guitarist Joey Santiago can still be relied on for a solid riff. However I’d struggle to tell you what the most memorable songs were. Surely ‘The Night the Zombies Came’ should be a night to remember? LT
