If you’d like some spine-tingles this December then you need ‘Night Terrors’ at Middlesbrough Town Hall in your life.

Ghost stories at Christmas! Give me a spooky tale over a panto any day of the week. And ‘Night Terrors’ will have precisely three of the very best of them for your dark delectation this December. And the man doing the readings will be Gerard Logan, an award-winning actor who has won rare praise wherever he’s played. Tonight he’ll be dipping into the oeuvre of E.F. Benson (1867-1940), the English writer who is recognised as a real master of the form, and right up there with M.R. James in many people’s eyes. ‘Night Terrors’ is underscored by a beautiful, original and specially commissioned score by RSC composer Simon Slater. Brrr…
