Get empowered

If you’ve ever wanted to explore the spangles and tassels world of burlesque, then Roisin Crowley Linton (pictured) would like a word…

If you’ve ever thought about the art of burlesque, and how you could get involved, then look no further than this beautiful new project from Roisin Crowley Linton entitled ‘Not Yours’. She’s putting together an inclusive troupe that is open to all – whether you’re always the first one up on the floor, or the thought of being at the centre of attention terrifies you. ARC are committed to providing a safe space for this type of performance and this will be the ideal place to build skills, confidence and afford you the chance to take part in a show alongside professional performers. The workshops are LGBTQIA+ and gender inclusive, and body neutral, and Linton is looking for anyone who’d like to try a new skill, or build existing ones; anyone who is looking to reclaim their body, sexuality and confidence; anyone who has lived experience of sexual violence, harassment or abuse at any point in their life; or anyone who feels ready to use movement as a tool to empower themselves. If you can commit to the time, this will be such a blessed experience that might lead to a whole new you. MW

Beginners Burlesque Troupe: first session Saturday 11 January, ARC, Stockton, 2-5pm, free (pre-booking essential), arconline.co.uk
