Grab them by the posse

The classic whip-crackin’ musical ‘Calamity Jane’ is high-tailing it into the Sunderland Empire in early February.

The Watermill Theatre’s production of ‘Calamity Jane’ first did the rounds back in 2014 where it received near universal acclaim – including a full five-stars from WhatsOnStage. It’s now been revived ten years later with the wonderful West End star Carrie Hope Fletcher in the lead. She commented: “She’s action, romance and comedy all packed into one character, and I can’t wait to take on the challenge of filling her shoes.” The song list includes the likes of ‘The Deadwood Stage’, ‘The Black Hills of Dakota’, ‘Just Blew in from the Windy City’ and ‘Secret Love’ and I reckon you can file all of them under: Show-stopping. Whip-crack-away to the box-office!

Calamity Jane, 4-8 February, Sunderland Empire, 7.30pm (mats Weds, Thurs and Sat 2.30pm), from £15, atgtickets.com/venues/sunderland-empire
