A Rum Do
Recipient of the prestigious Broadway Baby ‘Bobby’ award, ‘RUM’ is a play that tackles men’s mental health – in the most entertaining way possible. It’s at ARC in Stockton this April.
Many works that examine mental health can be worthy but dull. Not so ‘RUM’. It concerns Danny, who has been plastering since he was a kid. He’s not scared of anything. But he’s been up all night and now he’s rushing to finish a job before he has to give the speech of his life. This darkly humorous piece wrestles with masculinity, mental health and addiction, and it nabbed a Broadway Baby ‘Bobby’ award at the Edinburgh Fringe. These highly-prized accolades are only handed to those productions that really stand-out – even among the five-star rated shows.
