Bossing It

Newcastle riot grrrl three-piece Dinky Bossetti are releasing a bracing new EP on the last day of January and they’re launching it with a special gig at The Globe on the same day.

Dinky Bossetti’s latest EP is titled ‘Pink, White & Blue’ and is so-called because, as lead singer Jade explains: “Pink, white and blue are the colours that make up the trans flag. But it also represents each of us in the band. I’m the pink with she/her pronouns. Aria is the white that represents they/them. Chris is blue and he/him. The band is us as Dinky Bossetti, but the three of us are very different individuals with different talents and tastes. It was also important to me to ensure that Chris was very much seen as part of the band. He’s a cis het male in what started out as an all-trans band. We originally wanted a trans drummer, but it would have been hypocritical of us not to practice the inclusiveness we sing about.” The EP itself features jagged riffs galore, which go nicely with the band’s general air of defiance and sense of celebration. Importantly, they also know how to pen a rollicking good tune, which keeps that all-important balance between sweet and salty just right. DP
