In 2005, the folk singer Vashti Bunyan released ‘Lookaftering’ – only her second album, 35 years after her debut. It was – and remains – a remarkable comeback record, featuring instrumental contributions from the likes of Joanna Newsom and Devendra Banhart. It’s beautifully produced by Max Richter, the tasteful arrangement of piano, strings and woodwind proving the perfect backdrop for Bunyan’s hushed vocal. This 20th anniversary re-release features a whole bunch of demos – all exquisite. JL
