Lambrini Girls are aptly named, as the ferocity with which vocalist Phoebe Lunny spits out their lyrics reminds me of when I first tried Lambrini. This white-knuckle ride of a debut is full of distorted baselines and guitar melodies that pair beautifully with Lunny’s abrasive delivery of lyrics that are topical and full of personality (a Lambrini wine pairing?!). They tackle subjects such as police brutality and sexual harassment in a way that feels genuine rather than a relevancy ploy - the impact of this is boosted further when you see how committed they are to spotlighting important causes outside of their music. Lambrini Girls are what punk is all about. LT
