A bloom of one’s own

The Biscuit Factory has Fiona Sturrock as their headline artist for their famed spring exhibition, which is set to open this March.

Many artists try their hand at that still life staple that is the vase of flowers, but most don’t succeed in producing anything memorable. Fiona Sturrock, however, is a rare exception. Her flowers are incredibly distinctive – you can always tell that her paintings are by her. She captures their vibrancy with bold and colourful marks that just seem to sing off the canvas. She was born and raised in Fife and began her professional career in art in 2012. Since then, demand for her work has grown exponentially. At this exhibition you will be able to see – and purchase if you so wish – many of her works, which also include landscapes and wildlife paintings (you’ll swoon for her penguin). The spring show is being launched with a special evening on Friday 7 March between 6-8pm. This free open evening will feature live music from Axum Folk Collective, pop-ups from Corney & Barrow Wine, Grate Cheese (and afternoon tea tasters from the Biscuit Factory’s pastry chef), new titles from Forum Books, and the chance to win a £250 gift voucher. Book your free ticket from the website, below. GM
