Clara Mann - Rift
The debut album from this London-based singer/songwriter is a real stop-you-in-your-tracks affair, particularly if you’re partial to tremulous folk-rock-pop that flickers with twilight vibes. Clara Mann cites the likes of Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf and Tom Waits as influences but this beautiful collection of songs will also find favour with fans of late 60s and early 70s folk (think artists such as Anne Briggs). It also helps that she has a voice that contains multitudes. GM
