Gan on then!

Birmingham duo GANS knock-out throbbing slabs of scuzzy indie-rock that is heavy in all the right places, and they’re bringing their raucous live show to North Shields this April.

There’s nothing about GANS that isn’t mega. Cellar-deep tunes given body by a rumbling bass, frantic beats, electronics that don’t so much shimmer as boil-over, and an up and at ‘em vocal attack. They’re raw, untethered and one of the most exciting bands out there at the moment. They’ve recently supported Pete Doherty on his ‘Anywhere in Albion’ tour and have played a live session for BBC Radio 6. They’re now also seven fiery singles deep into a career, which continues to see them on an upward curve. And their gig at the brilliant Engine Room in North Shields should be super hot as supporting them will be Newcastle’s very own TV Death. This garage rock outfit combine post-punk with psychedelic notions in the most intoxicating of manners, and they really hit their straps in the live arena. So then, a double bill of rare quality – miss it and miss out. GM

GANS + TV Death, Friday 11 April, The Engine Room, North Shields, 7.30pm, £10, terns.co.uk
