Just opened at the National Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sunderland is the largest ever exhibition of UK hobbies.

Award-winning artist and Spider-Man enthusiast Hetain Patel is the mover and groover behind ‘Come As You Really Are’, an exhibition that celebrates people who dedicate their spare time to activities they are passionate about. It explores how individuals express their identity, character and creativity through their favourite pastimes. The inaugural show took place at The Hobby Cave in London last year (from where this pic was taken) and the exhibition has now landed in Sunderland. Hundreds of objects loaned from people across the north-east will be on display at the NGCA alongside a film by Patel, which explores the outstanding creativity and passion that people put into their hobbies.

Come As You Really Are, until 6 July, National Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland, sunderlandculture.org.uk
