Britain’s most thrilling new rockers

HotWax made many people’s ‘Ones To Watch’ list last year and they’ve followed up that early promise with a blistering new album. They’ll be taking Stockton by storm this April.

Say, “Hi! How’s it going?” to Sim-Savage (vocals/guitar), Lola Sam (bass) and Alfie Sayers (drums), a Hastings-via-Brighton trio who caused a lot of people to sit up and take notice of their lightning-in-a-bottle qualities when they tore it up on tour with the likes of Royal Blood and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes. They then backed up all that initial chutzpah with a clutch of incendiary singles before they banged out their ‘Hot Shock’ debut album in March. Working with the production team Catherine Marks (boygenius, Wolf Alice) and Steph Marziano (Hayley Williams, Let’s Eat Grandma), it’s a release resplendent with pedal to the metal indie-rock anthems that deal in ditching your fears and embracing future challenges. If you’re on board with the likes of Amyl and the Sniffers, Panic Shack etc. then you’re going to go a bundle for HotWax. I know I am. DP

HotWax, Sunday 6 April, The Georgian Theatre, Stockton, 7pm, £12.50, georgiantheatre.co.uk
