Radio Jesus - Du Blonde (ft Paul Smith and Ross Millard)

Newcastle rocker, Du Blonde, blessed our ears with the release of ‘Radio Jesus’ on the 5th of August. Described as being “about finding comfort in radio and TV when you’re lonely”, the song is something we can all relate to after a long period of finding solace in music and film whilst isolated from the world outside our homes. Du Blonde, aka Beth Jeans Houghton, explained in a video on her social media that “I really wanted that kind of sing-a-long energy” and that is exactly what she has created. The simple yet powerful lyrics, alongside Houghton’s rich, vibrato vocals and the grungy guitar, make the song an absolute anthem, and had me singing “I heard it on the radio, I saw it on TV” all day. What’s more, Maximo Park’s Paul Smith and The Futurehead’s Ross Millard lend their vocal talents to create some stunning harmonies – the acapella section towards the end will give you goosebumps.

This tune has not only got us looking forward to ‘Baby Forever’, Du Blonde’s upcoming EP to be released August 27th. Du Blonde will be taking the ARC2 stage at The Gathering Sounds, a brand new festival coming to Stockton-on-Tees on the 25th of September. 43 artists including Sophie and the Giants, Himalayas and Dead Pony will be spanning across six venues such as Ku, Georgian Theatre and the Green Room. Tickets are on sale now.
