Slowly is the first single from Nel Unlit’s second album, Ephemera or Tosh and the Girl. Like its predecessor, it is a concept album, but this time, the band have swapped epic fantasy for kitchen sink drama. In Slowly an estranged mother in recovery narrates as a wearied father pleads with his teenage daughter to stay at home. The band use driving rhythm section, swooning melodies and many mourning voices to tell this story. They opted to record live sessions at Greenmount Studios with Producer, Jamie Lockhart to capture the energy and intensity of the track’s emotional highs, without losing the ambience and space required for the more tender moments.
