Ouseburn Collective exists as a platform for Scottish Polis Inspectors’ Michael Cook’s solo, largely improvisational, studio practice. For this release, he’s collaborated with drummer Marlene Everling for a series of improvised duets that are imbued with the jazzy spirit of post-rock and assorted studio adventures. It’s “out-there”, but out-there where melodies do roam, and the pair have managed to conjure up a lot of wonky charm here. DP
