Album of the Month: Joyce Moreno - Natureza
This review is technically 45 years late, as ‘Natureza’ was recorded back in 1977. However, this album from Brazilian feminist icon, Joyce Moreno, is only just seeing the light of day, and it is an injustice that we have been starved of its delicious sound for so long. Opening with an 11-minute version of the track she is best known for, ‘Feminina’ – a kaleidoscope of traditional Brazilian sounds and beautiful vocals which explores what it means to be a woman – the album also features a song that has never been heard before, ‘Coração Sonhador’. Moreno’s music is everything that’s great about Brazilian music. LT
