Young Fathers - Heavy Heavy
Scottish trio Young Fathers list their influences as ranging from Enya to Suicide, which explains how they have came up with this all-you-can-eat buffet of sound. Heavy Heavy refuses to be boxed, whether by genre, emotion or instrumentation. What it does offer is a pure celebration of passionate, energetic, soulful music that just makes you want to move your body. It’s one of those albums that you just get lost in. Time stands still, each track blending seamlessly into the next despite their contrasts, until the music stops and you can’t quite believe 33 minutes have passed. These guys are Mercury Prize winners for a reason. LT
