Noah Wall - Speech Patterns
I’m a real nerd for music that is made in innovative new ways, and this is one of the COOLEST albums I’ve ever come across. New York artist and composer Noah Wall has taken spoken text and converted it into electronic musical data, creating 11 instrumental portraits including the voices of Bernie Sanders, a debate between Michel Foucault and Noam Chomsky, Octavia Butler and a cattle auctioneer. It is an absolutely fascinating listen that explores the musicality of spoken language, with rhythm, tone and timbre being transferred between the source texts and resulting music in mind blowing ways.
