The Support Band are a north-east outfit who propel progressive rock into some very exciting areas. I say propel, but the pace here is languid with these tracks unfurling rather gloriously over many minutes (20 minutes in the case of ‘Katabasis’; 43 minutes in the case of ‘Dissociation’). Using synths, guitars and keys, these (mostly) instrumental tracks conjure many a mood from starry-eyed wonder, to that feeling you get when those first sunrays hit you on a fine summer day. I’ve lived with this double album over the past couple of weeks and feel all the better for it. What a sonic tonic. GM
