The second album from New York’s Dakota Jones expands on what they did on their first album – which was a soulful release full of old school grooves. Here they’ve set their rocket ship on a stellar journey to the stars via hip-hop dunked neo-soul and Motown-esque R&B. It’s replete with shimmering melodies and choppy funk, but any experimentation is never at the expense of some truly cracking tunes. A glorious odyssey and then some. RM
