When Public Service Broadcasting first arrived on BBC 6 Music playlists, back in 2009, I thought they might have been a flash-in-the-pan novelty act (especially when I learned that the two founding members called themselves J. Willgoose Esq. and Wrigglesworth). But they’ve developed a real niche for themselves. This album is a recording they made at the 2022 BBC proms, which saw them join with the 88-piece BBC Symphony Orchestra, to celebrate the power of radio. It’s elegiac and stirring stuff. DP
