The second album from this Oakland-based songwriter, classically trained vocalist and virtuoso guitarist, exudes just as much mood as their debut ‘Hayaline’, which came out last year. ‘Hayaline’ explored grief and anxiety, but here they’re digging deep into what lurks beneath the surface of ourselves. It uses shifting melodies, electronics, voice, choral effects, piano, strings and more to achieve a harmonious experience that unfurls with grace. It won’t start any parties, but its spell is a powerful one. JL
