As its title suggests, this second EP from London’s Slaney Bay explores the symbiotic relationship between love and loss. With a sound that simultaneously has a hint of 90s and 2000s pop punk, yet also feels like a fresh approach to indie, ‘Why Does Love Mean Loss?’ presents six new songs that complement each other well despite being rather varied. It’s definitely strongest when the band are going full force on anthems such as ‘The Fall’ and ‘Move On’, but gentler moments such as ‘No One Else’ and ‘House Party’ provide some light and shade that works well with the album’s juxtaposed theme.
