I’m a little late to the Holly Humberstone craze - this was in fact my introduction to her music, and it has actually ended up being one of my favourite albums of the year. She has an incredible lyrical talent, creating evocative scenarios filled with relatable emotions in a unique yet simplistic way. This is complemented well by how the instrumentation blends with melodic, electronic sounds, creating an intimate yet melancholic atmosphere that perfectly fits this album largely set in souless hotel rooms. I was particularly captivated by ‘Kissing In Swimming Pools’, but the entire album has ended up in my playlist, and that’s no mean feat. LT
