Troye Sivan’s first album in five years starts strong with ‘The Rush’, a sensual, high-energy dance anthem. I also loved the exploration of queer romance and sexuality, which is encapsulated beautifully on its cover. However, the majority of the album just doesn’t come close to the standards set by its powerful opener, with the rest of the album’s chilled out, sultry songs quite indistinguishable from one another - except for ‘Got Me Started’, which includes a sample of Bag Raiders’ ‘Shooting Stars’ that I can’t separate from the meme it was once the soundtrack to a few years ago. Works best during its most energetic moments, but falls flat elsewhere. LT
