Viji - So Vanilla
The debut album from this London-based Austrian-Brazilian artist is a
real scuzzy joy. Her songs – throbbing with delicious melodies –
are fuzzed up in all the right places and collide in that happy place
where low-slung indie nous slaps together with alt-pop. She wears
that gum-snapping insouciance better than most, and isn’t afraid to
get grungey, or throttle things back (‘Sundress In Pink’), where
she sees fit. Has a startling new talent arrived on the scene? I
rather think so. DP
