Nacho Dog is Cullercoats based Dan Gooch, who does pretty much everything on his latest album. He’s given his usual stoner-funk and gently frazzled trip-hop a swerve here for a more rootsy sound and, pleased to report, it’s a release well worthy of your attention. He’s got the melodic chops of bands like I Am Kloot and Turin Breaks, and he pens the kind of melodies that really pull you in. It’s a stripped back affair, yes, but it’s an album that carries real weight and an album bursting with plenty of heart and soul. DP
