The Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art is drawing on its well-appointed collection of photographic works for a thought-provoking group show.

Simon Roberts’ ‘Let This Be A Sign’ collection of pictures is the culmination of work created over the period following the formation of the coalition government in 2010, with the series examining the different ways of representing the effects of economic changes on the British landscape (that’s his ‘Display Trading Floor, Merrill Lynch’ pictured). And his work is just part of this exhibition that takes in a selection of photographic works taken from the NGCA’s collection. Other photographers delve into extraordinary worlds by mapping the contours of Alpine glaciers, or by exploring 3D models of a tree, or by documenting the lives of stage entertainers from across the world, from Las Vegas to Blackpool.
