The Young Property Developers is north-east lad Paul Stewart and his latest album – which features turns from other local luminaries – is a new-wavey/punky thing of joy. Sonically, it’s exuberantly lo-fi and full of thrashy hooks and fizzy melodies, and the pointed lyrics (“You change channel when you see Lesley Joseph, I don’t know why you find her to be so corrosive”) scale the heights. I’m stamping this one with a “Super!” (Note: The album is being launched at The Little Buildings in Newcastle on 15 June.) DP
