The veteran experimentalist and former Velvet Underground band member released his seventeenth studio album (the well-received ‘Mercy’) only last year, and he’s swiftly followed up with this, a release in which he brings to heel a whole bunch of synths, samples, organs and pianos. The result is a collection of songs that shimmer with melodic intent as he rails against the destructive capitalists that continue to wreck havoc on the world. Cale’s late flourishing continues unabated. GM
