In the age of music streaming and short attention spans, the greatest compliment you can give an album is that none of the songs make you want to reach for the skip button. For me, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT has achieved this coveted feat. Expanding Eilish’s trademark dark sound and soft, moody vocals into more colourful territories, this album is a masterclass of musical experimentation, with lots of fresh, electronic melodies to dive into. Not all of the songs are ‘radio-friendly’, but that’s the best part  - it feels like a space where Eilish is able to explore who she wants to be as an artist, free of constraint. LT
